FAQs
How does this work?
- The initial consultation meeting is free. In this meeting, you specify what you need and I ask lots of questions to make sure I understand what you want.
- Before I do any work, I write up a Letter of Agreement that we both sign. The LOA simply specifies the details of the project: what it is, how many pages, deadline, and so forth.
- For a first-time customer, I require a 50% deposit. For repeat customers, 1/3 is due in the beginning, 1/3 at project midpoint, and 1/3 at the project end.
- I’ll review all of the material related to the project (such as old marketing material, company information, product specs) and do additional research as needed. During this time, I may have additional questions that I ask by phone or e-mail. (I am always respectful of your time -- I try to “bundle” my questions together to reduce multiple Q&A sessions.)
- I write. And write. And write ...
- You review the first draft. To maintain project momentum, I request reviews back in two weeks. (For repeat clients, 1/3 of the project fee is due at this time.)
- I make the first draft changes and submit it to you for final review.
- You make final changes, again to be returned in a timely manner.
- Project end! I deliver the final product to you (more on this below). You deliver the final payment to me, and we’re both happy.
How is the final product delivered to me?
I can deliver the final product as an email attachment (Microsoft® Word or PDF) or as hard-copy inkjet master copy. If your printer or graphic designer requires a specific layout, please let me know ahead of time.
What kinds of payment do you accept?
I’ve got everything I need to say written down. I just need someone to “massage”/“edit”/“make it sound pretty.” Can you do that for a lower rate?
The rate can be lower if it means that I don’t have to do as much research as a “from scratch” project. But before I give you a definite answer, show me what you have in mind and I’ll quote a rate.
What happens if the project gets canceled or the scope changes?
If a project is canceled, only the work done up to that point is due to me. If the project scope changes, I rework the estimate to reflect the new project and I create a new Letter of Agreement.
Do you have a contract?
